SIGN8 Local Product Information

SIGN8 Local Product Information

The SIGN8 Local is a USB token certified as a QSCD (Qualified Signature Creation Device) according to Common Criteria standards. This hardware enables the creation of secure and qualified electronic signatures (QES) or qualified electronic seals (qSeal). In addition, the token can be used with an add-on certificate for authentication purposes.

Product Selection

  1. SIGN8 Local Signing

    • For natural persons seeking a local e-signature solution.

  2. SIGN8 Local Seal

    • For legal entities requiring a local qualified electronic seal.

  3. SIGN8 Local Auth AddOn

    • USB token with a certificate for secure authentication, e.g., for login to UPC, tender portals, and similar applications.

Certificates

  • All SIGN8 Local certificates are valid for two years.

  • The USB token does not contain a signature but rather the certificate itself. This means the token can be used in any PDF reader with signature functionality (e.g., Adobe Acrobat) or signature tools like SecSigner.

Order Process

  1. Complete the application form: After placing your order, you will receive a link to an application form. Here you will set your pickup password (Abholpasswort), which is essential since the certificate cannot be downloaded onto the token without it.

  2. Identification: You will be required to verify your identity. Use the provided identification methods.

  3. Confirmation email: After successful identification, you will receive an email containing important information:

    • Your reference number for certificate retrieval

    • Instructions for use

    • Links to required apps:

      • Enrollment App (to set up the token and retrieve the certificate)

      • SafeNet Client Authentication App (to manage certificate data such as PIN and PUK)

Installation and Usage

  1. Download and install the apps in advance:

    • Install the Enrollment App on the computer where the token will be set up.

    • Install the SafeNet Client Authentication App on all computers where you will use the token.

  2. After receiving the token:

    • Follow the instructions (Set up USB-token) to set up and retrieve your certificate.

Important Notes

  • Keep the confirmation email safe. This email contains crucial information for retrieving the certificate.

  • The certificate cannot be installed without the pickup password (Abholpasswort)!

  • The token is compatible with all common PDF readers and signature tools.

Common Use Cases
