Before you can use your token for signing, three more steps are required to turn this SIGN8 USB-eToken into your personal token:
To manage your eToken, you must install the associated token software.
Please note that the token should only be connected to the computer after the software has been installed.
The following steps must be carried out to install the SafeNet software:
The following steps must be carried out to install the Sign8 Enrolment App:
Step 2: Double-click on the installation file
Step 3: Tick ‘Start when ready’ and click on ‘Install’
Initialise your token to install the certificate. If you have already initialised your token, skip this step.
Please note: the initialisation process deletes all existing certificates on the token. If the app was already open before the USB stick was inserted, it must be restarted.
Step 1: Connect the USB stick to the USB slot of your PC
Step 2: Open the ‘Sign8 Enrolment App’
Step 3: Click on ‘Initialise token’
Step 4: Read the declaration and then tick the box ‘I have read and understood the declaration.’
Step 5: Click on ‘Continue’
Step 6: Click on the ‘Token*’ area and select your token
Step 7: Enter a name for your token in ‘Token name’
Step 8: Click on ‘Next’
Step 10: Click on ‘Next’
Step 11: Enter your new token password in the ‘New token password*’ field enter your new token password and confirm it by entering it again
Step 12: Enter your new administrator password in the ‘New admin password*’ field enter your new administrator password and confirm it by entering it again
Step 13: Click on ‘Initialise token’ and wait until the process is complete
Step 14: Click on ‘Get certificate’
If you have skipped the initialisation, please insert your USB stick into the USB port of your device before opening the app.
Step 1: Open the Sign8 Enrolment App
Step 2: Click on ‘Get certificate’
Step 3: Now enter your collection login details and then click on ‘Log in’
Step 4: Click on the ‘Token*’ field and select your token
Step 5: Click on the folder icon in the destination folder field and select your destination folder
Step 6: In the input window that opens, enter the token password you specified during initialisation and click ‘Continue’
Step 7: The certificate is now generated and imported onto the token
Step 8: As soon as you receive the confirmation ‘Your certificate has been successfully created and stored’, you can close the programme and find your certificate in the previously selected destination folder
