How to the USB-Token in Adobe

Prerequisites

  1. Certificate:
    • Your USB token must be properly configured, and the certificate must be successfully stored on the token.
  2. SafeNet Authentication Client:
    1. Ensure that the SafeNet Authentication Client software is installed on your computer. Without this software, the PIN entry window cannot open, and you will not be able to use the USB token.
  3. Adobe-Software:
    1. This guide applies to both the free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Using the USB Token in Adobe

  1. Open the File

    • Open the file you want to sign or seal in Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  2. Access the Signature Tool

    • From the Adobe main menu, select "All Tools".
    • Click on "Use a Certificate".


  1. Create a Signature Field

    • Click on "Digitally Sign".


    • Hold the left mouse button and drag to create a rectangle where you want to place the signature field.
  2. Select the Digital ID

    • In the next step, choose your digital ID (from the USB token) and click "Next".


  3. Customize the Signature

    • Customize the appearance of your signature as desired (optional).
  4. Sign the document

    • Click on "Sign".


  5. Choose the File Location

    • Select the location to save the signed file and click "Save".
  6.  Enter the PIN

    • The SafeNet Authentication Client window will now open. Enter the password (PIN) of your USB token and click "OK".



Your file has been successfully signed!

Additional Notes

  • Compatibility:
    • The USB token can also be used with the free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • PIN Security:
    • Make sure to keep your PIN secure. After several incorrect attempts, the token will be locked.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • If the token is not recognized, verify that the SafeNet software is installed and the USB token is correctly connected.

With these steps, you can efficiently use your USB token to create digital signatures in Adobe.
